SPAN 461 - Hispanic Language and Culture for Foreign Language Teachers I

A reading and discussion course conducted in Spanish that examines broad aspects of contemporary life in the Spanish-speaking world through the use of authentic texts and materials including advertisements, newspaper and magazine articles, short stories and plays, poems, films and music. Weekly topics include cross-cultural values, gender roles and the family, youth and education, the individual and society. Readings on teaching foreign cultures to American students and developing lesson plans are included. Recommended Preparation  Permission of instructor. Note Open only to foreign language teachers.
