An analytical study of musical styles and structure, with emphasis on chromatic harmony and 19th-century technique. The course is designed to develop the student’s analytical abilities by examining scores. Some of the topics covered include rhythmic, textural and thematic analysis, and the expansion of the orchestra. Recommended Preparation: MUSC 225 or consent of instructor
