ENGL 385 - New Media and Digital Literacies(3.00) This course aims to promote “digital literacy.” That is, it aims to help students gain understanding of the ways in which new media are used to produce, consume, and represent information and cultural objects, processes that are increasingly linked to the production of culture itself. To this end, students will analyze the technologies and artifacts of new media. As students read, analyze, and construct new media texts, they will learn about the historical and theoretical contexts for the development of these dynamic and still emerging technologies. Students will come to understand the ways in which these technologies are increasingly responsible for the cultural landscape of our daily lives.
