SOWK 373 - Demystifying the DSM: A Social Work Perspective(3.00) This course will provide students with a working knowledge of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM-5), a major source of diagnostic criteria used across a variety of mental health and social work fields today. As a primary focus, students will be exposed to the history of the DSM, the relationship between the DSM and major mental health conditions, as well as experiential familiarity of how the DSM applies to clinical assessments, diagnoses, and treatment planning within social work.
