ARCH 360 - Rise of Civilization(3.00) Our understanding of complex societies has been radically altered as a result of excavations in the Near East and Mesoamerica in the past 30 years. This course deals with the archaeological remains of settlements in these two areas, remains that help explain the causes and results of the change from the nomadic life of hunters and gatherers to the settled life of people who live in complex societies.
