GES 441 - Urbanization and Development in a Global Context(3.00) This course examines economic, political and social processes and patterns of urbanization in a global context. It engages with theory and policy debates about the shape and form of urban development. Students look at local and global processes driving urbanization, examining the role of international agencies, NGOs, national governments and grassroots groups. Topics include urban livelihood strategies in the context of economic restructuring, urban revitalization and planning, housing and land tenure, and inequality and violence.
Prerequisite/Corequisite: GES 341 or GES 342 or GES 363
