AMST 230 - The Arts in America (3) This course examines 17th- to 21st-century American art forms from an interdisciplinary perspective. Placing fine arts, popular arts and folk arts in social and cultural context, the course draws on the approaches of folklore, cultural geography, archaeology and anthropology. The course will look at the relationship of art to aesthetics, to gender, to region and to religion in an effort to understand how art forms connect creators to their audiences.
