POLI 385 - International Security(3.00) This course is both an introduction to the scholarly discipline of security studies and a broad survey of contemporary international security issues. Topics will include core concepts in security studies; strategy during the Cold War; post-Cold War international security issues, such as nuclear dangers and arms control; major-power relations in Europe and Asia; and so-called new security issues, such as sub-state conflicts, transnational terrorism, refugee and migration flows, the problem of failed states and environmental degradation. Recommended Recommended Preparation: POLI 280 .
