LLC 612 - Language in Diverse Schools and Communities[3] This course explores language as a mechanism in the construction and institutionalization of race and ethnicity. Topics covered include the construction of standard language ideologies, the significance of racial and ethnic dialects in individual and group identities, the ‘English only’ and ‘Ebonics’ controversies and linguistic profiling.
