GES 774 - Statistics for Geographers Credits: [3] Description: This course investigates statistical techniques for exploring and characterizing spatial phenomena. Several spatial analytical techniques are covered that include basic, distance, local/global clustering, spatial autocorrelation, space-time, and spatial interpolation. Students will apply these techniques to real-world data with a methodological approach to ensure students gain experience in planning their analyses. Students will be exposed to prominent stand-alone spatial statistical software and programming libraries in R, as well as common programs. An emphasis is placed on exploratory spatial data analysis (ESDA) to augment the methodological approach by learning how to examine every aspect of the data they use. Course ID: 100145 When Offered: Spring Components: Lecture Grading Method: A-F
