Description: Covers induction, expression and selection of mutants; molecular basis of mutations; transfer of genetic information by transformation, transduction and conjugation; complementation and recombination in phage and bacteria; plasmids; and recombinant DNA. Two lectures and two laboratory periods per week deal with the genetics of bacteria and bacterial viruses.
