Description: An examination of the history of Tudor and Stuart England, with a focus on the social, political and religious consequences of the rise of the Tudor state in the 16th century, the causes of the civil war in the next century and the nature of the Restoration settlement. Particular attention will be paid to the rich historiographical debate regarding the 17th-century conflict.
