ANTH 211 - Cultural Anthropology (3)

This course provides an introduction to the central concepts, methods, and issues in cultural anthropology. Using ethnographic case studies, students examine how people living in different social and cultural contexts make and make sense of their worlds. Through these analyses, students investigate broader concerns regarding human diversity, culture, and connections between local and global processes. This course challenges students to think beyond their own assumptions about society and human nature through an encounter with anthropology. It is designed for non-majors who may not have had previous exposure to cultural anthropology and serves as the gateway course to the major and minor. (Fall/Spring/Summer)
