ENGL 273 - Introduction to Creative Writing - Poetry (3) This course introduces students to the craft of writing poetry. Students explore the strategies and approaches that successful poems employ, in order to make effective choices in developing their own. They read a variety of work by published poets, and they produce their own poems using drafting, sharing, and revision processes to help them realize their goals. A key feature of the course is the opportunity for students to provide focused, supportive feedback on each other’s drafts, which is important for their development as readers and writers. The course prepares students for further study in the writing of poetry and for future critical reading of creative work.
