HIST 110H - Western Civilization to 1700 - Honors (3) A survey of Western Civilization from its foundation through the ancient, medieval, and early modern periods. This course will cover the main political, economic, cultural and religious features and developments of western society. Major topics will include the political and philosophical contributions of the ancient Greeks, the Roman Republic and Empire, the influences of Christianity, Islam, Judaism, medieval social and cultural structures, the Renaissance, the Reformations, European exploration and contact with other peoples and cultures, and the Scientific Revolution.
