MLL 219 - Contemporary French Cinema (3) Contemporary French cinema is an introduction to popular French films of the last 25 years. It charts recent developments in all genres of French cinema. Reflecting the diversity of French film production since the new wave, this course will examine a variety of genres from the thriller to the war movie alongside the cinema du look and the work of women filmmakers. Directors will include Luc Besson, Jean-Jacques Beinex, Claude Berri, Yves Robert, Diane Kurys, Agnes Varda, Maurice Pialat, Jean-Marie Poiret and Coline Serreau. Taught in English. No knowledge of French required. Topics will be published in the Schedule of Classes. This course is repeatable for credit with different topic.
