MUSC 100 - Introduction to Music (3) A study of what music is, with special reference to the relationship between music and listener. For students with little or no formal training in music, this course explores, in a nontechnical way, the elements of music (e.g., rhythm, melody, harmony, texture and form) and discusses the various cultural contexts in which music is found and how these affect the nature of the music and the listener’s perception.
