IS 296 - Foundations of Data Science (3) This course offers an introduction to data analytics incorporating a synthesis of inferential and computational thinking, through manipulation of real data, anchoring students’ understanding of both the principles and practice of data science. The course teaches critical concepts and skills in computer programming and statistical inference, along with hands-on analysis of real-world datasets, including economic data, document collections, geographical data, and social networks. It also delves into social issues surrounding data analysis such as privacy.
