ART 350 - 20th -21st Century Latin American Art (3) This course examines a range of art forms from Latin American countries within cultural and historic contexts, focusing on artists active during the 20th and 21st centuries; studies Latin America’s indigenous and African heritages and its colonial past from decolonizing perspectives; and explores major artistic trends (e.g., Muralism, Constructive Universalism, Neo-Concretism), as well as why the distinct - and problematic - category of “Latin American” art has emerged in academia and the international art world.
