ASIA 333 - International Relations in East Asia (3) This course provides an overview of international relations in East Asia. The course will address the key theories and concepts crucial to understand these relations and place emphasis on the role of history in the current affairs of the region. The course will provide a historical background on the evolution of international politics in the East Asian region and discuss key political, foreign policy, and security issues involving the main actors. The course will examine an array of topics pertaining to complex geopolitical dynamics that have shaped the relationship between the states in the region. Specifically, the course will explore the relations between China, Japan, and the Korean peninsula as well as the United States, an important actor in the region via its military presence and alliances. Recommended Preparation: HIST 103 or ASIA 100 . (Spring)
