MATH 635 - Foundations of Finite Element Methods Credits: [3] Description: Variational formulations of physical problems; Ritz-Galerkin method; h, p and hp finite element spaces; approximation theory. A selection of topics from: plate and shell elements, mixed methods, superconvergence, a posterior error estimation, reliability and adaptivity.
