Description: This advanced course analyzes principles and current topics in bacterial physiology, genetics, and metabolism. The study of microorganisms as a complex system will be considered in the context of the transcriptome, proteome, and metabolome. Topics will include regulatory networks used for complex metabolic processes, how microbes sense their surroundings, mechanisms microbes use to survive in extreme environments, and biotechnological applications of studying microbial systems.
