Description: This course is designed to provide an understanding of the basic fundamentals of networking to individuals seeking to achieve a broad mastery of computer science concepts for secondary teachers. Introduction to Computer Networks explores the architectures, models, protocols, and networking elements that connect users, devices, applications, and data through the internet and across computer networks. The content also includes IP addressing and Ethernet fundamentals. Although technical skills are significant within the content, an emphasis on the pedagogy of teaching networking is consistent throughout the course. The primary purposes of this course are on networking fundamentals and how to convey these fundamentals as a computer science teacher. Students will also explore overall networking and engage in ongoing analysis of teaching and learning in computer science.
