CSED 528 - Computer Science Principles for Educators Credits: [3] Description: This course is part of a series of graduate-level computer science application courses designed primarily for P-12 teachers working to earn the Master of Arts in Education degree with a focus on computer science education. Computer Science Principles for educators is an inclusive course designed for all participants to explore programming, computational thinking, data analysis, and the impacts of computing in our digitized world. This course will offer the foundational concepts of computer science to all participants who want to embark on teaching computer science by supporting teachers in understanding the five big ideas of how computing shapes our society and by developing computational thinking and programming skills through collaborative open-ended projects that are personalized and meaningful to participants. Participants will also be involved in investigating and debating issues such as data privacy, cybersecurity, digital literacy, and how programming enables exploration as the object of study. Participants will become familiar with many ways in which computing enables innovation and creativity.
