GES 327 - Cultural Ecology(3.00) This course investigates the relationship between humans and their physical environment and the role that technology plays in this evolving relationship. We examine the interdependence of social organization, technology, and the environment using a case study approach from different cultures with particular emphasis upon the Amazon region of South America. The course also explores social and cultural changes arising from technological innovations and the impacts of expanding economic frontiers upon indigenous population.
