SOWK 387 - Policies, Programs, and Services for Children(3.00) This course presents the current situation in services for children, as well as a historic perspective on the development of our society’s perception of children’s needs. It attempts to go beyond the traditional definitions of child welfare as an institution and encompass consideration of a social welfare system that would include family policy advocacy, programs to enhance socialization of children, helping services and services to surrogate families. Select intervention techniques appropriate for work with children are presented, and skills are developed.
