Program Description

Designed to provide advanced education to early/mid-career professionals in the areas of human capital management, employee selection, and training and organizational management. The program provides students with the knowledge, tools and techniques to evaluate and explore organizational behavior talent management, and best human resource practices based on the needs of the current job market. Upon completing the program, students will have also completed a professional capstone experience, developing a professional portfolio while building relationships with those in industry.

Program Admission Requirements

Admissions decisions are based on a match of the applicant’s interests, work experience, academic background, scholarship and personal goals for the programs. Minimum admission requirements are listed below.

- A B.A. or B.S. in Psychology or related field from an accredited institution or foreign equivalent OR; A B.A. or B.S. in another discipline from an accredited institution or foreign equivalent with coursework to include Introduction to (or General) Psychology in addition to an undergraduate course in Research Methods or Statistics
- Minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale

The Graduate Record Exam (GRE) is not required for admission but can be submitted to supplement an application.

Master of Professional Studies: Industrial/Organizational Psychology is offered at The Universities at Shady Grove in Rockville, MD.

Financial Assistance

The MPS is an applied, professional degree and as such does not offer research-based assistantships. However, students are eligible to apply for non-research based graduate assistantships offered through other academic departments.
