M.P.S.: Community Leadership
The Community Leadership programs at UMBC help aspiring and practicing leaders develop the skills and experiences to generate transformative social change. The interdisciplinary program emphasizes applied coursework, relationship building, and hands-on experiences for developing practical knowledge and strong leadership skills. The coursework draws from a wide range of disciplines – including Sociology, Public Policy, Psychology, and Entrepreneurship – to provide a thorough understanding of the social and economic contexts in which aspiring and practicing leaders will be doing their work
P.B.C.: Community Leadership
A 15 credit Post-Baccalaureate Certificate (PBC) option, in Community Leadership requires successful completion of four courses. The certificate is intended for students who want to gain a baseline understanding of community leadership. Students may apply certificate course credits to the MPS.
A bachelor’s degree
GRE scores are not required for admission
Applicants should have a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
Applicants should have experience working or volunteering in community-oriented organizations.

Community Leadership is an applied, professional degree. Students should review the program cost page, for any opportunities and a link to the Financial Aid Department. Students are also eligible to apply for non-research based graduate assistantships offered through other academic departments.
