All courses submitted by a student in fulfillment of the requirements for the major must be completed with a grade of C or higher.
|
MLLI Two-Language Option (39-43 credits)
Students may choose one of four primary languages (French, German, Russian, or Spanish), together with a secondary language:
French Interconnections With the World (42 credits)
12 credits:
foundation courses
3 credits:
- elective FREN courses at the 400 level
12 credits in a second language (above 202) taught in the target language
Note:
Up to 15 transfer credits may be applied to the major requirements, but at least one 400-level FREN course must be taken at UMBC. Credit by exam for FREN 301 and FREN 302 counts towards the 15 transfer credits allowed.
Track A or B: Cultural Studies or Advanced Language Studies Track
3 credits:
- elective German courses from either track
12 credits in a second language with at least three credits at the 400 level.
6 credits:
- elective RUSS courses at the 300 or 400 level
12 credits in a second language (above 202) taught in the target language
6 credits:
- SPAN at the 300 or 400 level, to be chosen in consultation with the student’ s advisor. At least one course must be at the 400 level.
12 credits in a second language (above 202) taught in the target language
Note:
It is highly recommended that SPAN 308 be taken before or concurrently with SPAN 312 , and SPAN 307 before or concurrently with SPAN 311 .
SPAN 401 is the capstone course for the major, and must be taken at UMBC.
