Business Technology Administration, B.A.


Offered by Information Systems , the Business Technology Administration, B.A trains students for management positions in the growing job field of information systems (IS). It is an interdisciplinary program developing practical knowledge for integration of computers, organizational processes, and people into effective and efficient systems.Through a variety of courses such as human resources management, project management, business law, ethics, and operations management, student learn the skills to be successful managers, analysts and, administrators in an IS organization. In addition, Business Technology Administration, B.A. students experience working with companies on projects that analyze systems and research solutions for implementation in small and large enterprises.

Major Requirements


  • 63 credits
  • Minimum grade of “C” for any course to be applied to the major.
  • Minimum 9 IS and Management courses numbered 300 or higher taught by the IS department at UMBC.

Additional IS Upper Level Course (3 credits)


One upper level IS course, not to include IS 397 , IS 399 , IS 400 , IS 467 , IS 469 , IS 478 , IS 479   or a course being used to satisfy an IS certificate requirement.
