All courses for major requirements must be passed with a grade of “C” or better.
Students preparing for graduate study should take as many mathematics and statistics courses as possible beyond those required for the major in order to increase both the depth and breadth of their mathematical knowledge.
Excluding MATH 380, MATH 432, STAT 350, and STAT 351, additional courses in mathematics or statistics numbered 300 or higher, and at least 6 credits at the 400 level from the following or other approved courses.
Mathematics and statistics have proven indispensable in many disciplines in the physical sciences, the social sciences and even in the humanities and arts. Much of mathematics and statistics has developed with a view toward its applications in other fields. To develop an appreciation of the connection, mathematics majors are required to take additional courses from other departments reflecting these interconnections.
