Courses Specific to Track


Students must complete additional courses specific to the track(s) they affiliate with in the HSP program. Courses are provided for specific tracks, though students can declare dual track (such students should consult the HSP Handbook).

Clinical Track (APA Accredited) (31 credits)


Behavioral Medicine Track (27 credits)


  • Introduction to Behavioral Medicine
  • Physiological Systems in Behavioral Medicine
  • Epidemiology
  • Clinical Intervention III:  Interventions in Behavioral Medicine
  • Topics in Behavioral Medicine  (first 4 semesters, 0 credits)

       Behavioral Medicine electives (15 credits; five courses)
       At least one elective in each track (3 courses)
      One additional Behavioral Medicine elective
      One additional elective

Community Track (30 credits)


Total Number of Credits for Ph.D. Degree (75 to 90, depending on focii)


The doctoral program is planned as a five-year program, including an internship for clinical track students. The doctoral degree requires a minimum of 75 credit hours beyond the bachelor’s degree, but it may range upward to 90, depending upon individual tailoring of programs and area combination
