Translational Life Science Technology, B.S.

The Translational Life Science Technology, B.S. combines the theory of a traditional life science degree with real-world applications used by scientists in academic and industry research. Students who complete this degree will have a comprehensive understanding of cell biology, biochemistry, lab instrumentation, statistics, epidemiology and biochemical engineering as they develop the diagnostic, therapeutic and vaccine answers to current and emerging health risks. In addition, students will master critical skills such as analytical thinking, data analysis, the ability to work in a team, and data evaluation.

Bioinformatics Track
The optional Bioinformatics Track provides students with additional advanced coursework to increase bioinformatics and data science skills, background, and proficiency above what is found in the major requirements. In addition to BTEC 330 , BTEC 350 , BTEC 395 , and BTEC 495 , students complete one course in Python programming and a capstone course that builds a foundation in areas undergoing rapid advancements in machine learning or AI-based applications.
Accelerated Bachelor’s/Master’s Programs
Qualified students may apply to an accelerated program, which allows them to share courses between a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree. Students take graduate courses as undergraduate students and later apply those courses to master’s degrees. An undergraduate may apply to participate in an accelerated program even if the desired graduate program is in a department other than the one in which the student is majoring.
