Computer Science Departmental Honors

Offered by Computer Science and Electrical Engineering . The Computer Science Departmental Honors Program challenges students to engage in original thinking and to complete a project that draws upon the skills and knowledge they acquired in previous courses. Students interested in research with faculty are strongly encouraged to participate in the departmental honors program.

Admission to the Program

Grade of ‘A’ in CMSC 201 and CMSC 202

Program Requirements

Complete Computer Science, B.S. and an additional 3 credits
Minimum GPA of 3.25 and minimum GPA of 3.5 in CMSC courses

Course Requirements

Honors Foundation (3 credits)

Complete the following with a grade of ‘B’ or better:

CMSC 341H - Data Structures (3)

Honors Courses (6 credits)

Two 400-level Computer Science honors courses, excluding CMSC 404 , CMSC 495 , CMSC 498 , and CMSC 499 , with a grade of ‘B’ or better.

Honors Thesis (3 credits)
