Anthropology Major Honors

Offered by Sociology, Anthropology, and Public Health . Students with strong academic records conduct substantial independent research projects, culminating in a thesis, during their final year in the major. Students considering graduate school are particularly encouraged to pursue this option.

Admission to the Program
- Completion of a minimum of 60 credits
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
- Completion of a minimum of 3 upper-level courses in Anthropology
- Minimum GPA of 3.5 in Sociology and Anthropology courses
Program Requirements
- Completion of Cultural Anthropology, B.A. , 6 additional credits, and completion of an approved honors thesis
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
- Minimum GPA of 3.5 in Sociology and Anthropology courses combined
- Minimum 16 credits in Sociology and Anthropology courses in residence at UMBC
Honors Thesis
With the guidance of two faculty advisors, complete a research project.
