Anthropology Major Honors

Offered by Sociology, Anthropology, and Public Health . Students with strong academic records conduct substantial independent research projects, culminating in a thesis, during their final year in the major. Students considering graduate school are particularly encouraged to pursue this option.

Admission to the Program

Completion of a minimum of 60 credits
Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
Completion of a minimum of 3 upper-level courses in Anthropology
Minimum GPA of 3.5 in Sociology and Anthropology courses

Program Requirements

Completion of Cultural Anthropology, B.A. , 6 additional credits, and completion of an approved honors thesis
Minimum GPA of 3.0
Minimum GPA of 3.5 in Sociology and Anthropology courses combined
Minimum 16 credits in Sociology and Anthropology courses in residence at UMBC

Course Requirements

Honors Thesis

With the guidance of two faculty advisors, complete a research project.
