Sociology Major Honors

Offered by Sociology, Anthropology, and Public Health . Students with strong academic records conduct a substantial independent research project, culminating in a thesis, during their final year in the major. Students considering graduate school are particularly encouraged to pursue this option.

Admission to the Program
- Completion of 60 credits
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.3
- A minimum of 3 upper-level courses in Sociology and Anthropology with a minimum GPA of 3.3
Program Requirements
- Completion of Sociology, B.A. and 6 additional credits
- Minimum GPA of 3.3 and minimum GPA of 3.3 in Sociology and Anthropology combined
- A minimum of 16 credits in Sociology and Anthropology completed in residence at UMBC
- Completion of honors thesis
