Writing Minor

The minor in writing at UMBC is open to, and appropriate for, students majoring in any field. The credential earned by completing the minor will document the student’s pursuit of writing skills for admissions committees and prospective employers.

Minor Requirements
- Minimum 18 credits
- Minimum grade of ‘C’ in courses applied to the minor
- Maximum of one semester of ENGL 495
Core Courses (12 credits)
Complete the following:
Electives (6-12 credits)
Complete a minimum of 6 credits from the following courses. Students may complete courses in different areas or may complete 12 credits in one area, including ENGL 400 - Special Projects in English (1-4) .
