The master’s program in applied behavior analysis requires a minimum of 36 credit hours beyond the bachelor’s degree.
It consists of a core curriculum of
- learning and cognitive aspects of behavior,
- measurement of behavior,
- single-case experimental designs.
Plus courses in
- basic and applied analysis of behavior,
- behavioral intervention design and data evaluation,
- ethics of behavioral interventions.
In addition to coursework, students participate in a supervised practicum for the duration of the program to gain hands-on experience applying behavior analysis. In place of a master’s thesis, students complete a capstone project that may involve a replication of prior research or the design of a novel project. Once students complete the master’s program and accrue sufficient supervised practicum hours, they can sit for the Behavior Analyst Certification Board examination.
