Computing is no longer an insular field. Familiarity with computing is needed across the arts, humanities, social sciences, sciences, and engineering since computers and computational approaches are increasingly used across disciplines. As computing fields such as AI and data science influence our society, questions are also being raised about the social impact of computing. Citizens trained in computational thinking are best prepared to address these challenges. 

The Computing Minor, offered by Computer Science and Electrical Engineering  in collaboration with many other departments, is meant for students not majoring in computer science , computer engineering , or information systems  who are interested in programming, computational thinking, and applying computing to their major area. The minor consists of a series of foundational courses in computing followed by electives from multiple disciplines. The minor prepares students for a world where computing is an integral part of their future, no matter what their major.
