Students in the Music Technology, B.A. receive a solid foundation in professional audio engineering with subject matter including acoustics, microphone placement techniques, stereo microphone theory, digital signal processing, mastering, plug-in applications, ProTools and surround sound recording techniques, and sound editing for video with Final Cut Pro. Graduates can expect to be fully prepared to pursue careers in various areas of the audio industry such as recording, mixing, mastering, post-production, or to undertake further studies at the graduate level. Specializations of Music Technology faculty include audio engineering, audio electronics, computer music, and audio post-production. Students have the opportunity to pursue individual research projects under faculty supervision as well as gain the experience of audio production in a professional work environment.

Major Requirements
- Minimum 84 credits
- Minimum grade of ‘C’ in courses applied to the major, except where otherwise indicated
Music Core (26 credits)
Complete the following, including MUSC 179 and MUSC 211 with a minimum grade of ‘B’: Additional Music Requirements (23 Credits)
Complete the following 9 credits: Recital Preparation
Complete 8 credits from the following: Advanced Music Theory Sequence
Complete one of the following 6-credit sequences: Western Music Theory
Complete the following: Jazz Theory
Complete the following: Private Lessons and Ensembles (12-16 credits)
Private Lessons
Complete 4 semesters of the following: Ensembles
Complete 4 ensemble courses over 4 different semesters selected from the following: Music Technology (23 credits)
Complete the following 17 credits: Foreign Language
Students planning graduate work are strongly recommended to complete the study of a language pertinent to their area of research through the 202 level. |
