The curriculum leading to an Emergency Health Services, B.S. combines courses in the arts and humanities, social sciences, mathematics, sciences, and emergency health services to offer a concentration in paramedicine and two tracks, one in Emergency and Disaster Health Management and one in Emergency Health Leadership.

Core Requirements (18 credits)
Students completing either of the tracks or the concentration in the major must take this set of core courses.
Emergency and Disaster Health Management Track (78-90 credits)
This track offers interdisciplinary courses designed to prepare students for careers in emergency and disaster health systems across multiple sectors including emergency management, public health, healthcare, and emergency health services.
Required Courses
Complete the following:
Electives
Students have three options to choose from to complete 27 elective credits: approved electives, minor(s), or certificate. Students may combine options to achieve the required 27 credits. Regardless of option selected, students must complete at least 9 credits at the 300 or 400 level.
Electives Option
Students can take electives to meet the 27 credit elective requirement, including at least 9 credits at the 300 or 400 level from the list of approved electives.
Emergency Health Leadership Track (78-90 credits)
This track is designed for working paramedics to complete their bachelor’s degree for career advancement into leadership positions.
Required Courses
Complete the following:
Credit for Paramedic Education
30 credits will be accepted for paramedic education from a CAAHEP Paramedic Program.
Approved Electives
Students in the Emergency Health Leadership Track must complete 15 credits of electives, including at least 9 credits at the 300 or 400 level from the list of approved electives.
Paramedic Concentration (116-118 credits)
The Paramedic Concentration consists of the core requirements of the Emergency Health Services, B.S. and a minimum of 98 credits in the concentration. Students pursuing the Paramedic Concentration must be EMT certified and provide documentation of a minimum of 100 patient contacts by the fall of their junior year.

Students without a current, acceptable EMT certification complete the following:
Emergency Health Services
Complete the following 12 credits:
Science Courses
Complete 20-22 credits of science courses.
Introductory Biology Course
Complete 3 or 4 credits from the following:
Anatomy and Physiology
Complete the following 8 credits:
Chemistry Sequence
Complete 9 or 10 credits from one of the following chemistry sequences:
Mathematics Courses
Complete one course from the following:
Social Science Courses
Complete the following 7 credits:
Paramedic Core Courses
