Acting Minor

Offered by Theatre . The Acting Minor is for students who wish to hone their performance skills through foundational trainings in voice, movement, and craft. Students in the minor will be strongly encouraged to perform on stage in Department productions to gain practical experience.

Minor Requirements

Minimum 21 credits
Minimum grade of ‘C’ in courses applied to the minor
Minimum 12 credits completed in residence at UMBC

Course Requirements

Core Courses (15 credits)

Complete a minimum of 15 credits of the following:

THTR 110 - Introduction to Acting (3)
or THTR 220 - Craft of Acting I (3)
THTR 120 - Introduction to Theatre: Theory and Production (3)
THTR 221 - Craft of Acting II (3)
THTR 222 - Vocal Training for the Actor I (3)
THTR 229 - Movement for the Actor (3)

Required Course (3 credits)

Complete 3 credits from the following:

THTR 223 - Vocal Training for the Actor II (3)
THTR 239 - Movement II: Alexander Technique (3)
THTR 305 - Theatre Ensemble I (3)
THTR 324 - Craft of Acting III (3)

Elective (3 credits)

Complete a minimum of 3 credits of any THTR 300- or 400-level course. Courses taken under Core Courses may not count for the Elective unless retaken for repeatable credit.
