Chinese Language and Culture Minor

Offered by Modern Languages, Linguistics & Intercultural Communication , this minor allows students to deepen their understanding of, and ability to function in, Chinese language and cultural settings.

Modern Languages Core (3 credits)

Complete 3 credits from the following:

MLL 190 - The World of Language: Structural and Biological Aspects (3)
MLL 191 - The World of Language: Cultural and Social Aspects (3)
MLL 230 - World Language Communities (3)
MLL 301 - Textual Analysis: Words, Images, Music (3)
MLL 305 - Introduction to Intercultural Communication (3)

Advanced Chinese (6 credits)

Complete the following in residence at UMBC:

CHIN 301 - Advanced Chinese I (3)
CHIN 302 - Advanced Chinese II (3)

Electives (9 credits)

Complete 9 credits from the following courses. A course in a related discipline relevant to Chinese language and culture may replace one elective with the approval of the MLLI department.
