The criminal justice system affects many of social work’s clients while ensuring public safety and offering services to offenders and victims of crime. This course examines the intersection between the profession of social work and the American criminal justice system by examining historical events, social welfare policies and social work practice. Course content focuses on current populations served and issues and reforms within law enforcement, the courts and correctional institutions Recommended Preparation: 6 credits in the social sciences.
