BIOL 422L - Microscopy and Imaging Techniques

Theory and practice of contemporary microscopy techniques for biological and materials science. These include scanning and transmission electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy and laser confocal scanning light microscopy. Specimens will be prepared for examination by each of these instruments; both group and individual projects will be pursued to develop confidence in specimen preparation procedures and use of the appropriate instrumentation. Image processing and figure preparation techniques are included.
