SOCY 459 - The Sociology of Fertility

This course focuses on the social and economic factors that determine fertility in developed, as well as developing countries. Special attention is given to age, age at marriage, education, labor force participation, race and ethnicity, and the overall relationship between female status and fertility. Issues such as abortion, sterilization abuse, family planning, population control and teenage pregnancy also are covered in the course. This course is repeatable for credit.
