ECON 471 - Financial Markets and Institutions (3) The role and function of financial markets and institutions in the economy is surveyed and analyzed. The operation of financial markets such as those for stocks, bonds, foreign exchange, and derivative securities is examined. The role of central banks and regulatory organizations in financial markets is discussed. The operation and management of financial institutions such as depository institutions, investment banks, mutual funds, and insurance companies may also be covered.
