POLI 324 - The Congress (3) This course examines the contemporary U.S. Congress, with a constant eye toward the paradoxes that define, and dilemmas that face, the institution and its members. The course focuses on a single theme with wide-reaching implications, namely the tension between the representative Congress as the collection of individual members with idiosyncratic, local, divergent needs and the lawmaking Congress as a collective body with shared, national, convergent responsibilities. Recommended Preparation: Junior standing or POLI 100 .
