POLI 380 - International Relations Theory (3) An intensive overview of the central schools of thought in the study of international relations (IR). We will read, discuss and write about theories rooted in realism, liberalism, Marxism, constructivism and other IR paradigms. Emphasis is on the purposes of theory, the main perspectives in IR theory and how IR theory has developed in conjunction with the evolution of international relations itself. Students should be prepared for careful reading, critical discussion and analytical writing. Recommended Preparation: POLI 280 or POLI 281 .
