ANTH 214 - Focused Cultural Study: South Asia (3) This course examines how people are making – and making sense of – their lives in a changing South Asia. Students will read ethnographic accounts from different parts of South Asia, each with their own particular histories, languages, and religious and ethnic identities. Students will use these readings and other material to examine how people in these communities draw on cultural beliefs and practices in the context of social change and globalization. These accounts will allow students to investigate key concepts in anthropology, as well as to learn about contemporary South Asia.
